The Ruby Warriors(Book One) – Michael Csizmadia

I received a copy of this book through a Goodreads Giveaway contest.

A fantasy novel with a bit of science fiction. At the end of great war between the clans, a mysterious and powerful man takes the only child of a clan ruler. The members of the clans are The Ruby Warriors, great fighters. He feels that this child is special. He will unite the remnants of the clans to battle the evil warlords that have taken over their lands. The book ends with the young man arriving on a remote island to train him in his next step in fulfilling his destiny.

As I started to read this book, I felt that this story resembled the orginal Star Wars trilogy. There were a few wrinkles thrown in to make it different. The other difference being that the main characters that are the heroes of the story do get along better that the heroes of the Star Wars theory.

I felt the characters, and there were several, were developed enough to keep the story. They were challenge in their travels, but they always seem to find a way to win.

The story does have a lot of action. There are many fight scenes. A few mentions of brothels, but nothing more explicit than that. Thsi should make the book appeal to the young male readers.

Although I felt the book had some flaws, I enjoyed the story. I am curious to how this story will progress. I enjoyed the book. I am looking forward to the second book in the series.
